One of the best adventures is to just visit one of the many wonderful state parks that are all across the Island. The majority of the parks have great hiking and walking trails where one can take in all the natural beauty the fall has to offer. In addition, many parks line the water’s edge and the beaches in the autumn sun are just spectacular. The water may be too cold but the cool sand and air is just right.

Along Long Island’s north shore one may choose from a variety of Gold Coast mansions, gardens and arboretums to choose from that are typically open until the winter months and some are even open year round. Visiting many of the old Main Street villages along the north shore is also a lot of fun. Every little village has something unique to offer. One may find a wide array of boutique shops, museums, restaurants and perhaps a hidden treasure or two.           

Other great adventures one may partake in on Long Island during the fall months is going out east to the North Fork, which is also known as Long Island’s wine country.
